Character Development

It’s been a little while since my last post. Not that there has been a lack of activity. I decided to focus this past week on further character development. I have actually completed another three scenes and developed some good depth on the Character Arcs for three of the main characters. That has been a very informative exercise. In addition to the character arcs, I wrote about three to five pages of “back story” for those characters.

Character Development

Those back stories will not necessarily be included in the actual story, but it afforded me the opportunity to “get to know” the characters even better. This is an exercise in additional work and effort that I am glad I didn’t skip. My hope is that this additional knowledge of my characters will come through in the main story by giving the characters more depth and relate-ability.

Character Depth

I am committed to developing that much appreciated depth and nuance to my characters over just simply adding more words to the story. As it was stated in one of my Inspiration Notes; Don’t build more story, build more into the story. Don’t say more, have what you say mean more.
